Morning Protocol

The objective of the morning routine is purely protective: neutralizing free radicals and shielding against UV and environmental damage.

Step 1: Cleanse (Optional)

A morning cleanse is often unnecessary, especially for dry or barrier-compromised skin. A tepid water rinse is sufficient to remove overnight occlusion. Oily skin types may benefit from a gentle, low-pH gel cleanser.

Step 2: Antioxidant Serum

Primary Choice: L-Ascorbic Acid (15-20%).

Applied to dry skin immediately after cleansing. Requires a low pH environment. Allow a few minutes for absorption before proceeding. Neutralizes Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) generated by UV exposure that escapes sunscreen.

Step 3: Hydration (Optional)

If needed, humectants (Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin) or a light moisturizer. Oily skin types may skip this step if their SPF provides sufficient emollience.

Step 4: Photoprotection (Non-Negotiable)

Requirement: Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

Quantity matters: Approximately 1/4 teaspoon (two finger lengths) for the face. Apply evenly and allow to set for 10-15 minutes before applying makeup.
