Microneedling
Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI) therapy utilizes controlled physical trauma to stimulate neocollagenesis.
The Wound Healing Cascade
- Inflammation (Days 1-3): Platelet release of chemotactic factors and growth factors (PDGF, TGF-beta). Neutrophils and macrophages clear debris.
- Proliferation (Days 3-21): Fibroblasts migrate and proliferate, laying down Type III collagen and elastin. Angiogenesis occurs.
- Remodeling (Weeks to Months): Type III collagen is slowly replaced by stronger Type I collagen. The tissue matrix aligns and tightens.
Clinical Applications
Highly effective for atrophic acne scarring (boxcar, rolling scars), striae (stretch marks), and general skin rejuvenation. Safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types due to the absence of thermal damage (which risks post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).
